Ministry couple dies in the Alps

The leader of a prayer movement in the city of Thun, Switzerland and her husband have died in a hiking accident in the Alps.

Michèle Käch,25, was the leader of the Prayer House in Thun, a place which aims to bring Christians together from any denomination to pray and worship God.

The couple, who had just married in June 2020, was starting a week of holidays in the mountain region of Bern when they had the fatal accident. After a difficult search, police found their bodies on 2nd March.

Local media has reported Käch had only just shared a video of the view with her family.

In a statement, the Prayer House in Thun said: “In our great sadness we still feel God’s supernatural peace in our hearts. Mischi and Chrigu loved Jesus! The knowledge that you are now with HIM fills our hearts with joy! Hallelujah!”

The young leader was previously involved with the 24-7 prayer movement in Switzerland. The former leader of the movement and friend of the couple, Susanna Rychiger told local media Livenet she had a coffee with them earlier that morning.

“My shoulders were hurting, and they spontaneously and naturally prayed for me. This is how they were,” she said.

Rychiger added: “She had a passion to walk with Jesus (…) Since she was a kid, her mother would bring her to prayer rooms, where she learned about worship”.

Founder of 24-7 prayer movement, Peter Greig, also joined in messages of prayer and encouragement.

In a tweet he said: “Mourning the sudden tragic loss of Michèle & Christoph Käch, passionate leaders of the House of Prayer in Thun, Switzerland in the Alps they loved. Please join us in praying for their community at this painful time. Michèle’s greatest desire was to be with her Father in heaven…

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24.”
