Penguin floats Christian imprint

Penguin Random House UK has announced the launch of its first Christian imprint, as interest in Christianity continues to grow.

The new imprint, named Ebury Vine, will publish books on faith, spiritual growth and self-development, with commissioning editor Charisa Gunasekera already acquiring 15 titles.

Gunasekera told Premier Christian News it is “really exciting” to have the ability to “get the word of Jesus out” to places where it may be harder to access.

Among the first releases are Waiting for Jesus by Rich Villodas, an Advent devotional out this month, and Rhythms of Faith by Claude Atcho, which explores the church calendar.

Other authors include New York Times bestseller Mark Batterson, mythographer Dr Martin Shaw, and minimalist pastor Joshua Becker.

Publishing director Olivia Morris described the move as “a fitting way to build on our heritage and mark out our ambitious intent to grow this space.”

The launch comes as UK church attendance has risen by 50 per cent in the past six years, with more than two million now attending services regularly.
