Monday Reflection – Sept 29

How many of us are living today? Truly enjoying TODAY?

We tease the older generation about saving their best crockery for the extra special guests, but we tend to do the same. The fanciest cutlery, china, jewellery, clothes, dessert is to be enjoyed TODAY. Don’t save everything for that one day or after retirement.

And when was the last time you truly enjoyed a day to day event? A meal that you cooked, a chat with a friend, a movie, a game with your child, even something as your drive to work? May be you did all of these this past weekend, but did you truly relish it? Or are yu waiting for ‘some other time’?

God’s love is shown to us in nature and experiences daily – that beautiful sunrise daily, the cuddle from your child, the warm hug of a friend, that ride you enjoy with a loved one. Yet, so few of us ENJOY it. When was the last time you really relished a piece of chocolate, enjoyed a scoop of ice cream or a cup of coffee? Or listened to nature, read a book, listened to good music or sat at the beach? Or went for a long drive alone?

Smelling the roses hits different when you actually STOP to do it.

Relish it, enjoy each moment. Life is not a race; its definitely not a competition. Laugh until it hurts. Connect with each person. Love people, help live.

One extra degree, that promotion, the bigger car or home, one extra gadget – none of these can guarantee happiness.

JESUS gives us that.

Take it all, but give me Jesus. And once you are in His presence daily, seek contentment. It’s a real gift.

1 Timothy 6:6 states: “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Enjoy everyday life – the love, the laughter, the challenges and the humour even in hard situations. Learn to laugh at yourself and talk everything out with GOD.

You can chose to be happy, grateful and content TODAY or hope to be all that ‘one day’. Today can be that day. Pick today to be the happiest day ever. Keep JESUS first. Love and honour Him. Then create happiness as you go along.

Having Jesus in your boat means joy. In spite of everything.
