You could be a believer and still be bound. You could still inspire many with your ‘holiness’ and still have chains that keep you trapped.
If you grieve the Holy Spirit and then don’t deal with it, you make yourself open to the demonic. Satan cannot pull down unless you willingly step into his territory. Stay out of his realm. Wilfully stepping into sinful acts and sinful thoughts – opens doors.
Just because you are a born again, baptised, bible believing, church going, speaking in tongues Christian, you cannot live careless. To be protected by heaven, you need to protect your territory.
You can tell the lord that you are scared of fires. But you cannot tell him that you will play with fire daily and you should not be burned just because you are a Christian.
Recognise the dirt you play with – habitual sins, addictions, thought patterns, poor eating habits, adultery, even your reading, entertainment and friendships matter.
Paul asks us in the book of Ephesians: “Do not give a foothold to the devil (4:27) ” and “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God (4:30)
Each sin that you live with, is a kind of spiritual separation – do not enjoy it, do not live in it. Being a man or woman of God isn’t going to keep you free either, if you wilfully chose to pick sin over righteousness and integrity daily. You cannot poke a rabid animal in the eye and then not get hurt. You cannot let a lion loose and then not expect to be mauled. You let sin in, you will have to face the consequences.
Then what’s the point of being a Christian?
You are never alone. We have the Holy Spirit to fight that battle with us. So repent, get back on track, make some tough decisions and fall in love with Jesus. He will never leave you or forsake you. But you are pulling away. Don’t bury your sin and pretend that life is normal. Jesus didn’t die for you to – only be saved. Loosen up and let yourselves go back to the Lord.
It’s not worth breaking Jesus’ heart.
