Monday Reflection – Feb 2

Decision making. Something we have to do all our lives. Big or small, decisions have a way of changing our lives – for better or for worse, some of them, even drastically.

Some rules to follow strictly when we have to make a call about something:

Ask JESUS. It has to be what GOD wants for your life, not what others want, the world wants, or even you want. Not a fan of ‘follow my heart’ because as the Bible says in Proverbs 28:26: “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

Listen to people, but do not let them make decisions for you. Most of us have had to compromise our own likes and dislikes, say or do things we don’t even want to say, to get people to like us, approve of us. And when it all comes tumbling down, they wont be around. And if our inner circle wants to guide us in our decisions, ask them if they are doing it out of love or after prayer. Often, even people who love us can give us stupid advice because they want us happy. God’s way may be harder, but it leads to a better you.

Follow Jesus, NOT people, not even religious leaders or celebrities or popular mentors. If they fall, then you fall too. Religion is of no use if you have no intimacy with Jesus. People can manipulate you, break you and get you totally off track. A godly human being will always strive to be godly, reflecting love and kindness. Don’t get human propaganda to mess you up.

If you are unsure, wait, fast, pray and pray more. I’d rather be few steps behind GOD, than half a step ahead. If you walk in JESUS’ way, His favour follows.

Ask God to pick for you – to close doors or to open new ones. And like Pope Francis said, be ready to serve Him and be bold. He will never give you anything less than the best.

If you have made a dumb decision, be bold enough to turn back to GOD and with His help, make amends quickly. It may cost you time, money and you’ll have a few bruises to deal with, but hey, you will be back for good. The Shepherd never took His eyes off you.

Once you have made any decision IN PRAYER, never look back. Tweak your life, keep seeking His will in the Word and in prayer, but don’t waste what’s left of your life on regrets.

YOU and only you can change your life. And if you ask JESUS, He will make it so rich, so meaningful. Get your Bible out and start praying.

God and you, is majority.
