Monday Reflection – Aug 18

In a world that acknowledges only the aggressive and great, it takes courage to stay simple and kind.

The world seems to be so focused on leaders and achievers, it fails to appreciate the true every day heroes. Men and women who power through with no consideration for others, are often looked up to and labelled successful.

The foot soldiers in our own lives, in our own homes, churches, communities and work spaces matter. People mock them for their life of silent giving, but they are truly great in the eyes of the Lord.

If your organisation’s head takes a few days off, it may not affect you so much, but if your cleaner, maid, garbage man, lift operator. plumber, electrician or driver takes off, it may actually affect your life more.

Very often these people are unappreciated and even unacknowledged.

Similarly, our titles may be the result of the hard work of many people behind the scenes – our parents who did ordinary jobs to raise us well, our teachers who didn’t seek honours, our day to day helpers who chose to stay kind, live simple.

It takes great presence of mind and humility to stay soft, giving, kind and unthanked – when the world does not see you or acknowledge you for the good you do.

JESUS sees. He will reward. Be a good human being and stay softhearted.

Little people matter too. You are spiritual giants.
