Monday Reflection – Oct 12

Sometimes, people get broken by what they see other Christians do. When a church leader falls, many fall away from faith.

When you blindly trust a church leader, have blind faith in his promises to you or rely on him instead of on God.

Leaders come and go, God alone remains.

Life is precious; do not waste your life getting affected by how people act, especially if they claim to be religious. Anyone can be religious, very few live for and like Jesus.

If your faith relies on another Christian’s life, when they break, you break too. Follow people, you mess up when they mess up.

The Bible entreats us: “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10)

And, “Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing”(Psalm 146:3,4)

This psalm contrasts fragile human leaders with the Creator – the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – who made heaven and earth and who remains faithful forever.

One empty vessel cannot fill another. People, even leaders, no matter how powerful, influential, or experiences they are – cannot provide salvation, deliverance, or permanent security. THAT comes from Christ alone.

Our ultimate hope and dependence should be in the Creator rather than earthly authorities. Respect and honour earthly authority, but be answerable first and foremost to JESUS.

Do not give another human being the power to control your thinking, manipulate your live or wipe out your smile.

Get broken by JESUS, not by people.
