Monday Reflection – Oct 5

Most of us love to be faithful to GOD in the big things, the extraordinary things.

Many of us will not rob homes, cheat, kill, commit adultery or even touch alcohol. But then the small, mundane Monday morning hits us with its usual chaos – family, school, work, ministry, home.

A fruitful Sunday service and quality worship service later, we may still struggle to find Christ in everyday chore, everyday battles.

People who even preach from a pulpit or lead a team or head a company, may not see JESUS in piles of dishes to be washed, those endless school trips, lists of to-do from work, dirty diapers and a messy home.

Where does spirituality fit into all this? He is still helping us with His goodness even on dull days when nothing new is happening.

Discipleship demands that we remain faith in the small things. Because following Jesus is not only for the big shots. It’s not only about big things in life either.

Its about being Christlike in every teeny little thing. Its about how we turn into His likeness through everyday mundane things.

Some of our most sacred moments may be when we are reflecting Christ to someone, through something mundane. Small, unseen choices reveal our true inner integrity. Daily consistency also prepares us for future growth and bigger opportunities.

The Word exhorts us: “whatever we do, do everything for God’s glory” (1 Cor 10:31). Faithfulness is a trait often attributed to God in the Bible and a fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) It is something that He desires to produce in us.

Faithfulness is not perfection – its striving to please JESUS – may be after a good cry even. One more push to do the same boring thing again, if that’s what life demands of you.

What small daily habit you want to start improving, to serve God and people around you better?

Some people may serve God through heroic, big things. But some of us serve through tiny, persistent efforts – mundane but still needed in the Kingdom of heaven.

Both serve Him. Serve well, knowing whom you serve.
