Sometimes, everything around us – suffering, sickness, death, broken dreams, people problems – seem to challenge the fact that God is good. Why do bad things happen to good people?
Observing bad people prosper, while good people suffer, creates deep doubt about divine justice.
Their blessing are not ours and no are their curses ours. Also, you and I are a part of the evil in the world. Each of us has contributed to that evil. It’s only Jesus Christ who cleanses sin and makes us worthy to stand before God.
Good people do experience tragedy, disease and abuse – which leads many to ask how an all-powerful and good God can allow such things.
But we live in a fallen world, not heaven. We are called to resist evil, believe we are more than conquerors in Christ and have gut-wrenching faith that GOD will let ALL things work together for our good.
Just like how the sun is present even on the cloudiest and darkest day, so is God’s goodness unchanged even in the face of evil.
It may not be easy to make that one more effort on a new day, but it may be exactly then – when people need us most – that we are becoming most like Jesus.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever (Psalm 23:6)
The promise covers all the days of your life—not just the triumphant ones, but in the valleys, after the mistakes, and during the heavy, exhausting hours.
