When people betray you or worse still, behave pleasantly to you and still rip you apart in private and never change – it’s them, NOT you.
They gossiped to you about others who trusted them; what made you think they wouldn’t do it to you?
You will hurt like crazy. But when you love them back and SHOW it in Christ’s strength, you will have peace that nothing can steal.
We cannot do it in our own strength and that’s where grace comes in. We also have a role model to follow:
“And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us” (Ephesians 5:2)
Learn to love like Jesus, from HIM. Then love the world and love it until it becomes a part of you.
Eventually, only the love remains and the hurt goes away.
God wants us to know: when you strike out, you always strike in. Any weapon you use to strike, – clenched hand, angry voice, closed heart withholding love – is double-sided with one edge always cutting deep into yourself. Sometimes a weapon is necessary, but use it wisely – and remember that the cost of using one are your own wounds.
Don’t let people use your beautiful God-created heart as their garbage bin.
Don’t let their offences keep you from heaven.
