Monday Reflection – Sept 15

Heartbreaks. All of us have had them. What we do after each crisis matters. Each tear drop counts. Don’t let it get wasted. Each wound carries the opportunity for deeper spiritual growth – if you let JESUS take the reins.

Each time bad things happen, we have the choice to let it make us better or bitter. Start with submitting to JESUS. Then move on to forgiveness. It heals a lot of wounds. People may laugh at us for being kind, sympathetic and forgiving, in a world that thrives on keeping count, getting offended and staying offended.

The world wants us to rub salt on our heartbreaks and revisit them. THAT is so not Christ’s way.

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34)

While enduring immense pain and suffering, Jesus’ prayed for his tormentors with profound love and a forgiving spirit, emphasising that they acted out of ignorance.

A powerful example of compassion and forgiveness, even for those who inflict great hurt.

Cry, pray, forgive and let go.

Jesus knew they did not like Him. He knew they would do it again if they could. Yet He showed kindness and love. And He forgave.

One day when we face death, we may regret many things. Never regret showing kindness. Be quick to forgive; if you dwell on your hurt, you may never truly forgive. Never regret loving people, showing them respect. Love always wins.
