Monday Reflection – July 21

Set the bar of holiness really high.

It is tough to live holy, people say. It is harder to live in sin, knowing you are wounding God, people and your own self with your thoughts, words and actions.

That is why JESUS wants us to walk the narrow road. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13,14)

The world and its pull is always there. But HIS Spirit gives us courage to say no. Be ready to serve HIM through your life and be bold, not obnoxious about your faith. You and I can model ourselves on the Son of God, the epitome of holiness.

Be so sure of the standards you set that people will not trifle with you – you should walk into a room and know that you represent JESUS in your speech, actions, even the way you dress and treat people. Unholy conversations, dirty jokes, deceit, gossip, pain – everything should end when you walk in. Reflect His light.

That will keep you in perfect peace because your mind is stayed on HIM. It shows.

Stop overriding your conscience in whatever area of life and then expecting perfect peace.

Jesus Christ keeps you in perfect peace. Don’t just run to Him who gives perfect peace, cooperate with Him.

Pursue HIM, seek HIS peace. It’s your inheritance as a child of God.
