Memories recorded hours before the deadly floods and during the evacuation have emerged from Camp Mystic, the private Christian summer camp in Kerr County, Texas, that was ravaged by flooding.
A Texas nurse has shared moving footage showing young girls from Camp Mystic singing worship songs as they were evacuated from devastating floodwaters last week.
Texas Camp Mystic children worship during evacuation
At least 27 campers and staff lost their lives when floodwaters tore through Camp Mystic in Kerr County. Around 750 children were attending the all-girls Christian summer camp at the time.
Devon Paige, a nurse from Grosebeck, posted videos to TikTok capturing the moment a bus full of girls was driven away from the camp’s rising floodwaters and debris.
In one clip, the girls can be heard worshipping together in an effort to stay calm. Paige wrote in the caption: “The girls are singing to try and calm everyone.”
The devastating floods swept through the Texas Hill Country on July 4, 2025, claiming the lives of at least 119 people statewide. The bulk of those deaths were in Kerr County, where the death toll reached 95 and officials said 161 people were still missing, a major increase from the numbers they were citing earlier in the week.
